As a church, we are striving to touch as many people with the love of Christ as we can. Help us reach more people! We'd love to have your hands and feet, but we also need ideas. Is there some need in this community that is not being fully met? Local Mission is looking for a new ministry we can start and fund. If you can help, contact Pastor Barry.
End-of-the-Year Teacher Gift Cards
Even at the end of the school year things for classrooms are always needed. This year we were able to help our neighborhood school, Central Elementary with WalMart gift cards to help purchase things to finish out the school year.
Back to School Gift Bags for Central Elementary Teachers
Every year Local Mission starts the school year out by supplying teachers at our neighborhood school, Central Elementary with school supplies, hand sanitizer, tissues and clothing donations for kids who might need it.
"Free Cuts for Kids" was a success!
We were overwhelmed with the response this mission project generated! We quickly learned that we needed more hair cutters! This number could have been much bigger had we not stop registrations two weeks before the event! We met our neighbors, handed out school supplies, fed people, and played. And a lot of kids were spiffed up for school! God blessed us with volunteers to serve Christ and make a difference. Many thanks to those who cut hair, provided food, shopped for school supplies and set it all up. We are looking forward to a new and improved free haircut day in the future!

Applefest Hospitality Ministry
The Applefest Hospitality Center was new and improved this year. As usual, we opened our doors wide to welcome visitors to Franklin. We provided water, coffee, and hot tea. People had access to our restrooms, seating areas and changing tables. We gave out more stained glass window booklets than ever. But this year, we also added a prayer wall. Visitors were invited to write a prayer request on a sticky note and post it on the wall for people to pray over. Many posted prayer requests, and other came and placed their hand on a note and prayed over it. It was an inspiring addition to the Hospitality Ministry. Also we allowed two Penn State medical students to do blood pressure screening and melanoma education counseling on Saturday. It was a great weekend of conversation and mission. Enjoy the pics!
Donations Made to Community Services
Community Services does a great deal of wonderful work helping the less advantaged in our community. Through the Franklin Minister's Fund, residents of our town are assisted with funds to help pay power bills and other necessary things. Release of the money requires a minster of a participating church to talk with the applicant, allowing a conversation about faith and sensible practices to occur. Community Services offers a wide range of other services for children and adults that you can read about here: http://csvenango.com
At the September meeting, Session approved donations to Community Services for the following programs and amounts:

Schools Supplies for Central Elementary
On the eve of the start of a new school year, the Local Mission team reached out to each teacher in the school with a special bag filled with school, "essentials." The idea was to let the teachers know we appreciate their service for the community and the ways they care for their students. The bags included 25 erasers, pencils, a box of tissues, hand sanitizer, and a box of crayons. While this is a small token of our support, we did include the following words of encouragement and support:
